Apologies if this has already been brought up.

The EU is considering scrapping the need for MOT tests and their equivalents for all cars over the age of 30. Currently in the UK cars made before 1960 don't need them.

Bit worrying or good thing?

Very bad idea and potentially very very dangerous. I know a MOT is not the be all and end all of safety but it plays a very major part in it.

I never understood the logic (or even the votes that they thought they could get by bringing it in). I could see an argument for a mileage based relaxation, i.e. extend it out to two/three years providing you had done less than x miles, but maybe that gets too complicated.

Bad Idea.

I'd have my 1275GT on the road tomorrow if that was the case and it doesn't even have a boot floor!!

(Not really but I'm sure there are others out there that would)

A sudden rush of cars currently advertised as rolling shelling shells suddenly become road legal, what could possibly go wrong.

Driving is an expensive 'hobby', as you all will know!

The cheaper, and ultimately more hassle-free driving is made, the more chance there is of people being on the road who really shouldn't be! Could well get ugly, as Carlos W says...!

It is so idiots will drive really unsafe cars, then they will ban all cars over 10 years with statistics to back it all up.
