theres no bypass hose on the car

 

don't realy know whats going on

 

all I know is before it was running at 70

 

now runs at 80 but goes to 90 sometimes

 

and its definitely 88 stat in there

 

what you think I should do

 

where would you like to see it run

For optimum thermal efficiency it should be running around the 86-90 mark. This will mean that the thermostat will be opening and closing as required. The rad should cool the water a couple of degrees purely by convection but to keep safe the fan should kick in about 90 degrees to stop the temps increasing any further.

so you recommend changing fan to come on at 90 for a 88 stat

 

or if I want it to run bit cooler than that put in a 82 stat

Yep set it to about 90, you could set it at 88 if you like as a couple of degrees won't make much difference.
There's a few degrees inaccuracies in the stat and sensors.

If you want it to run a bit cooler then fit a 82 stat and set the rad at roughly 84 degrees
