Started with the latest. New jet seal and washer to stop the small fuel leak thats developing

Old failed seal

Also changed out for a electronic indicator flasher. Fed up of the Mini spares ones failing. Had some turn up faulty from new, cheap made and seem to just fail. Added this and i now have a modern flash rate. Small thing but looks good when indicating!!

The carb, well jet saga

When it went for a MOT it had a slight drip from the jet. To get it through one on the boys covered it in silicone. All over the spring and line. Stuck them together.
I had to replace the seal but now had the whole lot stuck together. I used some silicone remover to soften and get the silicone off. Absolute nightmare, the spring was solid. Anyway in using the silicone remover it softened the fuel line. Little Eric started running badly, in my garage carb off again.
As the line had silicone remover on it, it caused the end with the new seal on to collapse in on its self and totally cut off the fuel supply. Ive had to put a brass collar in the seal end, larger than the standard one to stop it collapsing in on its self. Eric now runs again

Keeping Eric Solid

Rubbed the inner boot down and given it a going over with zink primer then red oxide. I will colour code it in the summer. I will be doing the same with the underside and inner arches etc. Stop the rot/rust even starting

Taking to carb off has and giving everything a good clean up has dramatically improved performance. Runs like a dream!!

A1380cc lump and what at the moment at a sort glance, straight cut box has been purchased!

Dispite everything ive said does Eric get a new lease of life. Converted tona manual 1380 fast road set up or do i get another shell. This always happens. “Ill leave it alone” racecar!

Great looking mini, and in the hands of the right owner who is appreciating it. Personally I think is sitting a little low at the back (but only my opinion) I would say keep all the mods subtle as a car that has survived this long (35 years) and this well preserved deserves to remain that way. I personally feel there are plenty of poorly modded / molested minis out there to save. You see them all the time on ebay. I love the stripy interior and details like this keep getting rarer, Keep up the good work.

Flipping love this thread, so old skooooool !!! any new updates coming?

Have you thought abut fitting spacered mini-fin drums on the rear and cooper-s discs on the front?

Jamie.
