I always find people assume you are alot slower than normal cars when driving a mini. My pet hate with this is people who pull out on you in crossroads thinking they have time until your on top of them, could always count on this happening atleast once a day

I find this in my girlfriends Polo too. I can drive along at the 60 limit in my Mondeo and not be hassled but if my girlfriend does the same she has cars tailgating and overtaking at any opportunity.

My guess is its a lot to do with perceived power of the vehicle. Small cars typically have smaller engines and cant go as fast.

I drive my Mondeo quite quickly but I dont hassle smaller cars. Whats the point? Theyre doing the speed limit most of the time anyway!

I agree with this.
I recently fixed up for My girlfriend a little sencento 1.1 sport.
To be fair it is one of the nippiest little cars I've driven on the road with the 5 speed box, it's fast up to 60. It will do 70 but it runs out of go as 5th is too long.

She gets nothing but tailgaters & those annoying drivers who drive along the white line with their heads almost out the window.

The other day she was following me in my focus. At 60 mph then we slowed to a 50 limit zone. I noticed a galaxy actually , tailgating her as described above this driving I know makes her nervous. We thought he would pass but no. The pressured tailgating continued.

I then slowed in font of my girlfriend to 40 mph to which this cheesed the bloke of & then he turned of at the next left. Which made the whole experience pointless for everyone.

Ironically i find people who ride BMW motorbikes to be quite laid back and considerate, especially those Dakar type bikes. I do find when I move over a little bit to allow the bike to pass safely the super bike riders are usually the ones that don't say thanks.

Over the past few years that I had my E30 BMWs, I didnt find any problems on the road - in fact most people were quite curteous and said they liked them as they hadnt had the boy racer treatment.  Since changing to the Mini, I notice more bad driving and in my E90 Beemer most people seem to expect me to be arrogant or something and look surprised when I let them out of junctions or pull out if they are stuck behind a bus at the bus stop!

I have to say that even driving a BMW doesnt stop the idiots in the same type car doing all those annoying things people describe - including trying to bull their way through the chicane where I live while I have right of way - I tend to just head straight towards them and stop in the middle of the road and make them reverse back to the give way line they should have stopped at - it seemed to really annoy one fella (in a 1 series) who really gave me a gobfull, he didnt quite expect me to get out of my car and ask if he would like to repeat his words outside of his car - when I asked him if his parents would be proud of him he put his window up and reversed back!  Being an ex-soldier I really hate the armchair warrior types who view their driving almost as an extension to their gaming.  Respect and good manners cost nothing!

Off home now to not tailgate, harass, flash my lights or get on people's nerves - I drive a black beemer so wave and I will wave back :-)

I've just googled typical Lexus drivers and top of the page was uncyclopedia, obviously comedy but made for funny reading. Has links to beemers and mercs too. I always thought that Lexus owners were ex Mercedes owners who became fed up of their expensive 90s Mercedes rusting before it's first MoT. ;)

Reference my previous post I don't want to paint everyone with the same brush etc, I always try to let people out at a tricky junction or let bikes come past if they wish.

I will say if someone tries to overtake in a merging lane when it isn't needed or isnt their right to do so I wont let them in out of spite.

I find bus drivers are a complete shower of b******s. The amount of times I've driven up behind one that's idling in a bus stop and, just as I'm about to pass, it flicks on the indicators and just pulls out. No waiting. Doesn't matter that there's sod all behind me and they could've waited 3 seconds more. It annoys me when you're waiting to pull out of a junction and a bus comes along and just blocks it instead of waving you out first.

I hate buses O_O.

However when driving my modern cars I do hate being behind some classic cars as they often seem to be running very rich or as if on full choke filling my car behind with their fumes in traffic.

As you notice the poluting classic in front of you, hit the button marked " recirculating air "  on your modern vehicle. That should stop any unwanted fumes entering your vehicle. If you find the ambient temp in your vehicle start to rise, just hit " a/c" and all will be well. ;D

Don't worry, more use as a souvenir to you as they never seem to use their mirrors anyway.

The worst thing is people who don't know how to use slip roads. Everyone seems to think that the people on the carriageway give way to them, and will just pull out in front of you. It's less of an issue with BMWs and Audis etc. as they can usually get up to speed and it doesn't effect you as much, but it's vans and other cars that pull onto the carriageway doing about 50 and cause everyone to slow down.

The one that gets to me is when going straight over a roundabout and people insist on being in the right hand lane and try to cut you up when they are taking the same exit straight as you.

Left lane to go left/straight or Right lane to go right unless there are road signs stating otherwise.

Its mainly merc taxi drivers that are at it the most!
