So annoying when someone sitting up your arse even though you're doing the limit, then they overtake, only to get in front of you and then just potter along, but slower! >_<

Or you get so fed up of them sitting in your boot you finally decide to let them overtake, but then they immediately take the next junction/turning.

Strangely enough though, the ones that insist on tailgating when your sat dead on the speed limit never seam to want to overtake when given the opportunity just before a big yellow fixed speed camera...

To be honest, I think bikers are the most respectful and courteous road users. At least that's just from my limited experience.

And this.. http://www.carthrott...th-in-humanity/

Thats because if a bike is hit by a car they come off alot worse. That may be the reason why we are experiencing more issues with driving in todays society....modern cars are much safer so if you have an accident you more often than not walk away. 30 years ago that wasn't the case.....you had an accident and went away in an ambulance and maybe in a black plastic bag!!  People just don't think any more about their actions.

But saying that, that doesn't stop bikers riding like tools and throwing themselves into the scenery. I live very close to the 'Cat and Fiddle' road between Macclesfield and Buxton, and the only reason it is classed as the most dangerous road in the uk is due to bikers splatting themselves.

And for reference. I wasn't saying that every modern car was a diesel. I was saying that modern diesels are quicker off the mark than Classic Minis. So are lots of other cars. I used diesels as an example because they're often considered slooowwww.

I also wasn't saying that you were the one generalising about other road users (I'd moved onto another paragraph, hinting that I was ended that part of the post and moving onto the next). I was saying that I found it odd (and still do) that a thread complaining about disrespect toward Mini drivers had loads of generalising comments about BMW drivers, Audi drivers and so on. Those generalisations are utter hogwash and a pretty hypocritical way of complaining about other people showing a lack of respect. I just find it funny s ' all.

As for the wrapping myself up in cotton wool comment. Not needed, thanks. I'm more than capable of dealing with every day life so I'm not really sure why that comment even came about? Don't take things so personally, you'll burst a blood vessel or something!

Hence my editing of my post. As i said a moment of hot headedness. Weather you can read it or not i thought it a bit abrupt and rude so removed it.

I agree modern diesels are often considered slow, but alot are not. I for one have my eye on an e90 335d msport as my next "family" car due to its speed/power and mpg.

Im a grown man and happy to admit when i was to quick of the mark to comment, which i was.

It just made me realise I needed to clarify my point.

I still find it odd the way people feel like they're mistreated when driving their Minis. I always feel like I get loads of respect when I'm driving one. Especially when I was driving my last Mini setup.

Id' quite happily take you or Cooperman for a drive out in the mini (witch is my daily) round mk to see just how poor the driving standards really are.

I even had a black Nissan pickup towing an empty trailer (with no number plate on the trailer) cut me up in the mini recently. I was approaching and indicating to turning right at 3 way mini roundabout, was nothing on my right hand side to give way to so proceeded to carry on the roundabout and turn right. When the oncoming pickup with trailer initially slowed down almost to a stop to give way, but upon seeing the 30 year old mini decided to pull out with a huge big cheesy grin on his face. Forcing me to make an emergency stop on the roundabout to ovoid going in to the side of him and nearly have the car behind go into the back of me for doing so.

The question is; was it because you were in your Mini, or would he have just been the same inconsiderate idiot towards any other car?

I have had experiences while in a queue of other cars turning at mini roundabouts were someone has to stop and give way. For whoevers stopped to give way, giving way for the one or two normal cars in front, only to then see the mini or get impatient at having to wait and then just pull out regardless.

From what I've experienced, both driving and from the odd stuck up individual, a small, old, cheap, unreliable car like a mini  = someone who clearly isn't doing that well in life.

Could be any car I think.

People cut me up in my old Hilux Surf with a 4" body lift and NI plates, they do the same in my replacement Land Cruiser.  The standard of driving is just getting worse and worse as the roads become more and more congested.
