Here's two options I've used in the past:

If you can clean & degrease the underside:

1) Brush or roller with Epoxy Mastic two pack paint as primer - the toughest paint I've ever used and it will stick to anything (unlike POR 15) - two coats.

2) Spray anti-stone chip - I used some from Wayside Adhesives - no problems after 2 years.

3) Spray with body colour.

If you can't clean off the old underseal (or can't be bothered):

1) Spray a light coat of Dinitrol 3125

2) Wait a couple of days for the 3125 to harden and then top coat with Dinitrol 4941

Above all, NEVER use Hammerite on the body. Like people have said it reacts to just about anything non Hammerite. Hammerite is fine on removable items, fuel tank, suspension parts etc.

One paint I have found that doesn't react with Hammerite is zinc primer. I've just done a wheel arch repair on our Discovery with zinc primer top coated with Hammerite and it went on and has dried really well.

I spray with Schutz, thinned slightly, then spray body colour over the Schutz after it has had around 3 days to fully 'go-off'.

So now we know there's lots of different ways to protect from the tin worm, but I think one of the most important is get underneath at least every year re-coat or at least touch up any suspect areas!

Hammerite can go over other paints but not be coated over with much other than hammerite.
