The other two plates also had numbers that were very close to the numbers of british and Argentinian deaths. Some coincidence......

Very speculative. If youre going to change the plates you may as well go the whole hog.
what like H982FKL do you mean?

I saw this, but I think that is pushing it a bit. The H982 FKL is no coincidence and so its easy to start looking for other stuff.

I think it was the media that hyped it all up. You could link anything to almost anything but saying it's 'close to' or if you swap this for that.
Why don't people follow the simple rule of.... IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, DONT LOOK AT IT!
No one is forcing the argies to look at the number plates, they could of just looked the other way but no, they had to make a big scene and get all the tension hyped up again.

It's not about not forcing them to look...it was about creating a reaction. Which they succeeded in doing.

I thought that first, but when you see the numbers are within 1-2 of the numbers and that there is some confusion as to exact numbers anyway it all adds to the stink. Let's face it its not as though they are whiter than white. There is more than a little,in the way of xenophobia in the history file of Clarkson.

I don't think anyone who wasn't around at the time can understand the feeling in the country in 82. I was ten and watched the news as the Sir Galahad went up in flames with my sisters boyfriend on it (he escaped with smoke inhalation), my wife remembers watching her father (bomb disposal expert) sailing away and not knowing if he would come back. I remember the flags out in Spondon for a local lad who thankfully came back safely. There must have been similar scenes in Argentina.

It isn't a joke and for that penistone oils head Clarkson to make a joke out of it is disgraceful. I am not surprised they tried to lynch him.

I completely agree Clarkson is less than innocent in all this and frankly they all deserve whatever they get as a result.

I wasn't born until 83 so have no idea what it was like, I can only imagine.

Why are we bothered about upsetting a nation that invade our territory for political gain?

The analogies with 7/7 or 9.11 are not the same in the slightest, we did not start the war against them, the Falklands wasn't even militarised when they invaded, they attacked us.

http://www.theguardi...banner-slovenia

Did we go crying with that? We just ignored them because their President is a sodding crackpot!

Top Gear and Clarkson himself have always shown massive respect to all the UK forces, this most certainly wouldn't have been anything other than two fingers up back at them.

Call it what you want but sometimes people need to learnt to just ignore stuff.
I read a story in the paper a while ago about an old lady who collects small porcelain pigs for almost all her life. She had hundreds of them scattered around her house and windowsills.
Some Muslims came along the road saw them, complained to the council and they forced her to remove them from her window as it was 'offensive'

Now that does that seem fair or just people wanting to cause a stir.....

Family guy does like to push the boundaries sometimes. But that's what I like about it, it's not afraid to say things that may offend a few when it will make the majority laugh....

Im not saying that plate wasnt changed. Thats about as close as you can get to referencing it within the limits of a number plate but if youre going to reference the number of deaths you may as well actually put the number. Im not saying it is right to do so though.

Nice one.

Its also like people seem to forget how hard it is to know the numberplate of a car before buying it!

so it was a coincidence ? - thought as much

how many cars would you have to go thru that were for sale for this to be on purpose ?

also the other numbers were random as well - not the number of dead on either side

more like the Argies saw Clarkson as English - & saw an excuse

they don't need much to get a riot going over there at the moment

was pretty stupid of T G to go there in the first place - that is where they are more at fault
