Rear Subframe

It may be beneficial to put a bit more weld on the other nut just incase.

For 1. you can make 3 cuts and then bend the sill back, weld the nut on and weld it back on.

This is a picture of how 2. is done. (sonikk4's pic)

Hi,

Can anyone help me?

I was putting back the rear sub frame in my mini and when doing up the front mount against heel board one of the threads has come away from the body so there is nothing to bolt up to.  (Theres just a whole with no thread)

Im pretty new to this. Any suggestions please. I have tried to upload a pic but cant... if anyone needs this i can email it to you.

You'll have to get into the heelboard to be able to weld one in, there is a few ways of doing this.

1. cut open the outer sill

2. go in from the companion bin, drilling/cutting a hole in the strengener peice to get to it

3. cut the heelboard weld the nut back on and weld that peice in again.

4? I think some people have drilled a bigger hole where the nut come from and welded it back on from the outside.

To upload a pic the best way is to create a photobucket account and copy the IMG code into your post.

Now to be honest if you cannot weld then the option of cutting a hole in the inner sill stiffener in the companion bin is the way forward here. Much like i had to do to my sons car. Now i can weld but after the expense we both went to in doing his car we needed an easy option and this was it.

Enough room to knock off the captive nut and get a spanner in to fit a new stiff nut.
