I've got a pair of the Merc lights waiting until I can find a suitable car to put them on. They're odd but I really like them.

I'm sure it will be a stunning job.....lol

after the work you did on that craford......love your work....... :highfive:

Perhaps better late than never, back in 1968 I had a then had a friend who had a W&P with Mercedes sl190 headlights. In Aston Martin Roman Purple paint, etc., etc., I understood that the car was made to order by the Arga Khan , I tried to buy a similar car a few years ago and understood that the headlights are illegal (here in the UK) as the centre of the headlamp beam was 1" below the legal level for an MOT., therefore making it illegal to drive it on the public highway. (However it may now be possible as the car falls within the Classic car 40yr ruling) that it doesn't require that MOT ? But if any car should have an MOT it surely , it has to. be a 40yr old car .
I met someone who tried to make provision, for that then legal stipulation, by raising the top of the front wings by enough to allow the centre of the headlight beam to be raised by that 1" .......... , it looked 'bloody ridiculous !

Personally I prefer the Mercedes headlights over the Facel Vega as the latter looks too heavy. Incidentally his W&P car had 16 speakers ! 4 in the headlining! ( I will hopefully re-create in my own car soon if possible ) a 4 track stereo and played it, it was the most amazing quality sound system I have ever heard in any car, even by today's standards ! Bring back 4 track . ;-)

I realise that my comments may be many years too late , but here goes if anyone is interested.

I have the intention of building a Radford looking Mini.

garage original Queens trailered to and from show in original spec., are not for me as there are many about . I wanted something very different.

i bought a Cluman not round nose but the first thing I bought were the Mercedes headlights, but the round top ones ‘ W113 ‘ not the flat top as I think they match closer to the curve of the top wing .

Yes I know it would be considered a Marmite car, but not as deep and front heavy looking as with Facel Vegas . A chap at college, in the late 60’s had what I believed was the Aga Khan W&P mini , originally in Aston Martin Roman Purple , Mercedes ‘W114’ lamps and a 16 speaker stereo ? 8 track . Amazing .

Meanwhile, 3rd mini in over 30 yrs I have the Clubman :

GOLF Gti Front grill x4 lights.

i am currently having shortened Golf Gti Mk2 grill shortened to fit.

VAUXHALL VECTOR GRILL ;

after over 20 years searching I now have an original Vauxhall Vector Quad headlight unit that I too will have shortened for when I might eventually change over if and when i need to sell it to look like a W&P conversion.

ALFA ROMEO GTV SEATS;

just had these fitted and Wow look stunning .

The rear seats fit, but top edge needs adapting to parcel shelf . Had special rear shelf cut to fit and changed black plastic centre panel covered in leather to match and special side fillers to fill gap between seat bench and inside rear 1/4 panels

So far only found a matching , very close, leather from Mercedes S class. Still waiting to hear what shade the of off white Alfa leather paint code , Anyone know it Please ?

The front seat brackets were handmade, but the seats sit ON the crossmember, not over them attached to side of crossmember and sitting on the rear floor, which makes the seats higher. Only good if you are no taller than perhaps 5’10” or 5’9” for example in my opinion. The upholstery is part of the suspension as prevents spine humping over holes and bumps etc., so comfortable .

Will try to attach hoots in here below.

i hope someone found this article of interest .

Not for me, the only thing I like is the hatchback, its a shame BL didn't do one from the factory. Would have saved us from the travesty of the metro.
