Gotta love it when some people just don't know when it's time to back down and stay quiet :)
Sorry. I will shut up now.

TMF is for classic minis plain and simple, im amazed how this is stil going on and the usual suspects are coming.up with pointless info that is so boring.
So why are there threads on Metros, Capris, 205 GTis, Rover V8s, etc.?

But where are these threads? Oh yes in the other projects section. They are not pretending to be a mini.

Did I say they were in Mini Chat? It was a humorous response to the claim "TMF is for classic minis plain and simple". The was the clue.

Single make/brand forums are becoming more and more difficult to be part of ime, same goes for the show scene, I'd rather go to a classic car show than a Mini show these days. Luckily from what have seen here the same people that I find offer useful help and advice or help with spares etc are also the open minded to MINI ones too.

And yes TMF IS for classic minis, there is a Genral chat section for anything else CLASSIC mini owners/ enthusiasts may wish to discuss.Did I say they were in Mini Chat? This is just getting too intense. I enjoy playing the devil's advocate to have a lively, friendly discussion. I have already said that I would not want the forum open to MINI owners who are not also Mini owners. Sometimes there are inevitable overlaps that cannot be ignored. The name John Cooper comes to mind.
As has been said some of the most passionate Mini owners and most valuable contributors to this forum do respect the MINI. I would hate for them to be bullied out.
I am bowing out of this debate as it is no fun anymore. I am not pointing fingers at anyone in particular.

When a large proportion of your readers/members have both then its inevitable that new mini info will be of interest to old mini owners isnt it? Some of the anti MINI comments make the poster look very silly imo, its a pointless divide in the mini community, its not like there are loads of Bini threads is it? Truth is the mini is now the underdog, some young people think of the Bini before the mini and a few silly comments here wont be enough to stop the MINI sales, infact the more people on here hate them the more I want one :-D
What is this "large proportion" though?
Is it 1%? 5% at a push have a Mini AND a MINI?
The VAST majority of people that are on this forum joined it because they're classic Mini fans. And have nothing whatsoever to do with the MINI.
I know a lot of people on this forum personally. I mean, probably 3-400 of the users I've met face to face.
Probably 50-75 users off here I deem friends. 20 or 30 are close friends that I know really well. Out of all of those, 2 of them have MINIS.
Thanks Matt for explaining why you moved the thread and as you know I accept your reasoning behind it.
One final thought (and I promise my last word on this) is that 4 years, 48 pages, 711 replies and 49,424 views means the 1%? 5% at a push of us TMF members who have a Mini AND a MINI, have each viewed the 'Bini' thread an awful lot of times each over that time.....bearing in mind the classic only TMF members are not at all interested in such MINI topics ?
I guess some car forums would love to keep such a popular thread generating traffic in the main section of their site rather than burying it but the rules are rules and where would we be without them.

I've viewed that thread a few times, all I saw were some asweful examples of often "scene" looking cars... but being a top all round bloke, kept my mouth shut... nope, the title didnt sway me, they arent my cup-o-tea... off to general chat it goes!
(Although I view most the content on here via the "view now content" button)
