Any mini gearbox. But which one and gear set it up to you.

Standard subframe mounting.

It's a normal  Mini engine with a BMW motorbike head, so no different.

It is just a Mini engine.

So maybe. But most will be down to how you use it and maintain it.

I bet that race car has a spare engine and they are swaped often.

The twin Kam conversion is one of the better ways to make power from an a-series. The standard head is asthmatic at best so by fitting a BMW k-series (k1100,k1200,k1200rs) head to it which breathes a lot better you can get more power from the engine. Generally speaking on a 1275 you can get about 120 bhp provided you work on the rest of the engine.

The main issue I found with this engine is cost, I was seriously considering it (and still am to a certain extent) but you are looking about £1000 in gearbox bits so it can take the power, and probably won't be left with much change from £3k for the engine including all the machining and components. But it tends to be a more reliable way to get more than 100bhp from the a-series. Other options is a race prepped engine - mini miglia engines produce about the same power but only last a season of racing and the likes of swiftune charge £20k for one of those. Then theres forced induction and more likely turbo for the same sort of power but that comes with its own costs and complexities.

My dad is half way through this conversion with his mini. Progress has slowed right down at the moment though

There are other options, such as the purpose KAD 16 valve head, that won't need as much modification to the block. I can't see adding forced induction to a 16 valver being cost effective. You can put a blower on a standard 5 port head and push out the same sort of power to stress the transmission and bottom end just the same.

I wasn't talking about adding forced induction to a twin-kam head, I was comparing the power gains of the twin-kam is similar to the forced induction route.
