Been a year in the making and my mini has finally made it to the rolling road and have received a bhp figure at the flywheel. I have not got a dynongraph yet and there is still a little fine tuning to do
I have got to be honest I was expecting a little more but after speaking to Kent cams about it I have come to realise it's not to bad and they reminded me of the reason I chose the cam in the first place and speced my engine around it was for low down torque. They said the 274sp was not a long duration cam but a higher lift and was never designed for high bhp figures. It was for low down torque, good throttle response and big grunt
I have a large valve head gas flowed with 1.5/1 roller tip rockers and Kent VS2 double springs
Specialist components 45mm throttle body kit
Kent 274SP cam and Kent vernier duplex
1380 bore with Mahle Pistons
Compression ratio of 10.35-1
Lightened and balanced stock con rods
Lightened, balanced, wedged and heat treated stock crank
Lightened and balanced steel flywheel, uprated pressure plate and AP Racing bonded clutch plate
Maniflow stage 2 1.75" manifold with maniflow 1 7/8" side exit twin box( recommended by maniflow for low down torque)
Mapped on BP 97 ultimate to 89bhp @6500rpm at the flywheel
Going to map again on Shell Vpower next week to see if it makes a difference
I'm interested in what other people have achieved and there engine spec using this cam for something to compare mine to. Also I'm interested in people thoughts on what they think this set up should produce. I have now got over the fact of the "pub figures" and am more interested in how it drives and its overtaking capabilitys.
