I have fully adjustable suspension set up for the road by a mini man that races miglias a few days before this dyno graph was produced.

I assume the rr measures the power at the wheels and does some kind of calculation to give a figure at the flywheel. I thought the power loss should be a lot less, there for should my flywheel figure be less if that is true?

Tyres get hotter on rr than road, as they have two contact patches (on most rr)
Are you using sticky trackday tyres? Sticking brake caliper? Just a thought

I know you are right, the figures mean nothing compared to how it drives/fun factor. It's also hard not to care too much about having good figures after all the time and money spent though. The car went for restoration end of October 2013 so I've forgotten what it's like to drive it.

I've been watching this thread, as you followed a similar path to what I one-day want to follow.

Some more driving experiences would be interesting, enjoy!

Do you have a link to a build thread?

Cheers

No, just got a load of pics on my phone from the bloke that did the restoration. I didn't have the time to learn or patience to do the build my self. Hopfully I'll have the car back in a few weeks and can start enjoying it.

90 bhp is very respectable and if you built it yourself that's an impressive figure, I got 95bhp after my build and I was slightly dissapointed but as said it's the driving pleasure not bhp figures

Spoken to a few people including the engine/gearbox builder and now understand things a lot better. The 34bhp loss through the transmission is a lot but should get better as the gearbox is a fully reconditioned helical gearbox. It should bed when driven and helical gears are not the most efficient for transfer of power anyway. Apparently straight cuts would make a massive difference so something to do in the future. Also with the bedding in over, the bhp at the wheels should increase and same with the torque. The torque may move down the rev range too. All in all if you take all that into account and the fact that it has 100Nm (74ftlb) at 2400rpm rising to 120Nm (89ftlb) at 3400rpm now then it looks to be a very fun car to own, and things will only get better!!! I'll get it back on the rollers that the above dyno graph was produced on in the summer to see if things have improved. CAN'T WAIT TO GET IT BACK!!!!!!!!

Your transmission losses will also include losses from:

brake binding,

low tyre pressure,

miss-aligned wheel tracking,

oil level too high,

oil too thick.

Worth checking as they can add up to a noticeable difference. Having said that, it looks like you've got a very nice engine  :-)

I'm hoping in a few weeks. The rolling road is finished with her so she will be transported to aseries spares this week. They have quite a lot of electrical work to do and then she's mine. I thought I was getting her back end of November but she was at the rolling road for 8 weeks more than planned. It did have a couple of teething problems which pushed it on a bit and Christmas to but I get the feeling my car was the "hospital job" there

Nice improvement. Were there any physical changes, or was that just tweaking the maps? Bet you can't wait to get it home  :-)

There were issues with the nuts on the rockers working loose. Before the issue was found one had come off and got lodged in the pushrod hole. Since then gaps had been reset and more dyno time involved resulting in the 90.8bhp. After that the problem was still present the nuts were changed for locking nuts and a pushrod changed as it was in a bad way. So gaps reset again (this time by the bloke that set up my suspension and knows his way around minis) and 94.2bhp @ 5840rpm and 94.2ft lb @ 3650rpm. Bonus!!!!

I believe there was also a small adjustment to the map as there was a small flat spot in the lower Rev range when test driving.
