When God made Adam he told him that he had good news and bad news. First the good news. He had given him a brain that would enable him to think, reason things out and be able to work things out. He had also given him a penis so that he could be the father of all the World.

The bad news was that he had only given him enough blood for one of those two to work at any one time ;D .

Happy Christmas everyone.

I was always the one buying the drinks when we were 16 as I already had my mini. I used to walk into the pub with my keys in hand and put my hands on the bar with my keys in them so them made a bit of noise, pause and think for a second and then order 3 pints , one for me, one for my mate Greg and the other for my mate Hugh.

I think the bar staff just thought, "yeah he can drive, he must be old enough"

The challenge 21 rule came in about a week after I turned 18. I think a lot of places were amazed afterwards when they started IDing my mates Hugh and Greg and myself on how old we really were.

We did get barred from one pub after my mate Greg got drunk, caught by college and then the police were informed. The pub got fined and Greg got banned. When Hugh and I went in about a week later without Greg the owner came right up to us two and asked for ID which neither of us could produce so we got barred there and then.

It depends on what we are thinking about  ;D

Sorry about that, maybe I should have checked everyone's age before going down that route ;D .

I'm going into Tesco later to buy some booze and a load of other stuff and my Grandson will be with me. If they should refuse to serve me as he might look under 21 I'll have a serious point of view with their management and they will have the pleasure of putting the entire contents of my trolley back on their shelves.

No problem at all. They just served me without comment. Now I think I'll have a large G & T.

Yes, I'm what is known as an 'old geezer', although I'm often told I act like a teenager ;D .

I'm not the only old git still driving and enjoying Minis. My friends Peter Baldwin & Barrie 'Whizzo' Williams still race them. Peter is the same age as me (74) and Barrie is 75. Barrie was the first guy to win an International Rally in a Cooper 'S' and that was in 1964. He still owns the car (120MNP).

You are never too old to drive a Mini flat out!

I'm so very lucky that I have excellent health (just passed my European flight crew medical), eyesight still good (with glasses) and my grandkids keep me young. I still enjoy driving my Cooper 'S' as quickly as it will go and I have a 230 bhp BMW road car which is very quick.

My own feelings are that age is, to some extent, just a state of mind.

Being retired means that I can really do much as I please on a day-by-day basis, so I play with classic cars, and not just Minis, go and fly my gliders and help run a gliding club. I take my friends for gliding flights in our club's 2-seaters and in the vintage open 2-seat glider in which I own a share.

So far I haven't been asked for ID to prove I'm over 18 and will be very amused if and when this happens.

So life is still a lot of fun.
