Nice, but the shell change devalues it massively.

Oh dear, it doesn't look good for that car does it?
Shame really as it does look a tidy car, someone will end up with their pants firmly down with that one.

Never want to be too anal about originality but a reshell of a normal mini has my alarm bells ringing. Most coopers went through the banger stage and many were damaged by over enthusiastic driving. It was much cheaper just to get another shell and bung the bits on, I know this is reshelling but it was not for a con or financial gain. A lot of the early minis now springing up worries me as the only reason to reshell a basic mini is financial gain. For example you have a 1275S and bang a tree the car is worth £400 and it would be more to reshell so you buy a good mini for £200 or one with a broken motor and change the bits, makes sense and this is why a lot of Coopers were reshelled long ago. Get a basic mini for £200 hit a tree buy another for £200 job done no bother reshelling. The works minis were reshelled after every event. To my mind any cooper reshelled in the last twenty years is non original as the motive would most likely be gain and any basic reshell anytime would be the same with a few documented exceptions.
I firmly believe you can never keep the 'soul' of a car in the log book (V5) only in a large amount of metal.

The fact is buyers on the open market will pay more for a December 31st 1959 registered Mini-Minor/Austin 7 than for an identical model registered 1st January 1960.......even though many early 1960 Mini's were of course built in 1959.
Most savvy buyers or investors bidding on this A7 can read the cars history in the ad, contact the '59 Register and do some basic research on the internet, so will be able to decide what the value is to them, but as with the convoluted history and auction sale values of most of the 'BMC Ex-Work' Mini's not everyone is that bothered about owning a classic car that is reputed to be a 'Triggers Broom' car after 50+ years, as long as it is a reasonable representation of the original unmolested car. In theory it should have a lesser value than a fully documented proven genuine article (if such a car still exists) but on ebay and in real world car auctions logic does not always come into the equation!

The annoying thing about this is................that it was explained to the seller very specifically what was wrong with this car after he bought it about two months ago,so he is fully aware what is wrong, but is trying to dupe people ,as he was when he bought it
I should also mention that the car was withdrawn from 2 auction sales by the auction houses once they found out all details on this car
