Hi,

I have a Austin Mini Mayfair 1988 and it will not start. The starter motor will not turn but occasionally makes a 'CHUNK' noise as if it where wanting to start but doesn't. I have re-charged the battery and tried jump starting and nothing has happened. Any help appreciated.

Check your earths are all clean. Battery to body, and engine to body

There is an earth that runs from the battery to the boot floor. There will also be one from the engine to the bodywork, ensure these are clean where they meet the body and aren't frayed.

Has this problem just started?

Battery to body is in the boot the short wire from the negitive terminal to the bolt on the boot floor. engine to body is on the engine mount on the left side looking at the engine.
