Those carpets are nice! Need something similar for the GT.

Thanks Jared :) I would PM Gordon and check if he still has a set. What colour are the carpets in the GT? Brown or grey?

Mine are a grey/white speckled black.

Hmmm, IIRC he only had brown and grey sets, which I assume were from mid 70s clubman and deluxe models. Still it wouldn't hurt to ask if he has some. Might be worth posting a picture on the whatsapp group or even here so we can keep an eye out.

So I got some spares to fix another bodge on the car. This time the clutch arm. The release bearing was on its way out, so got that too. Now to determine if a knob like myself can tackle this job :P

So I haven't updated this thread in a while, mostly because I haven't had a chance to do any work on Caesar, although I haven't stopped trying to get all the parts I was looking for. This past week I've gotten a GTS cylinder head (massive thanks to Quinton for sourcing it, purchasing it and shipping it to me) and a mk2/GTS booster (big thanks to Faraaz for selling it to me). Pics to follow soon :) Now I just need to get the booster bracket and get some brake lines made up.

And here are the pics of the parts :) Again, big thanks to Quinton.

Needs a clean (like all the other parts) and I would think a coat of red (wonder what the right red is?)

Lucas tail light lenses :D (One of the ones on my car are not Lucas)

Booster will need a rebuild and I'll probably get the details of a place locally that a friend has gotten his Cooper S booster rebuilt from.

It's not too difficult to re-furbish the brake servo/booster yourself - service kits are available and the casings can be blasted and re-plated in zinc or painted etc

So I finally found some connectors that would work for the light switch and decided to fit it :) I know it is a tiny, miniscule job when compared to all the other build threads on here, but I'm happy that I finally have the correct light switch fitted :D (another bodge fixed).

Now the other switches look bad, so they will need some attention so that they can look black and shiny again.

Thanks John, I will check whether it is cheaper to import a kit or get it done by the pros.

They most likely need a rebuild, which will happen at some stage.

Thanks man :) They are in really good shape, although they haven't been used in years so thinking a rebuild kit might be a good idea.

It's great fun to do, make sure to take lots of clear photos.

So it turns out changing the clutch release bearing with the motor still inside the car isn't too easy... doesn't help when the previous owner had over tightened all the bolts on the flywheel housing :\ Anyway, started the job on Monday morning and tried to follow the instructions in a video and from the various manuals. After much strife I got 5 of the 8 bolts out and couldn't get the remaining 3 out (too tight to loosen on my own).

On the verge of giving up, I turned to a friend, Les Irwin. He is a true legend, mini expert and all round fantastic person. He told me not to quit and came to the rescue and helped me remove the housing. One of us held the spanner on the bolt head, while the other turned the spanner.

We changed the parts, which was definitely necessary as the plunger was worn and the bearing was extremely noisy. Additionally the clutch arm had been bent and the clevis pins had suffered a decent amount of plastic deformation.

Then on Tuesday morning, I took some time to reattach all the components which I had removed/disconnected.

Best part, the noise from pressing the clutch is now gone :)

And today a friend came to visit in his lovely Series 3 Land Rover. Such an honest and simple car, with brilliant engineering solutions. I absolutely love that car :)
