Ahh but Chris you won't have time to sit as you will be too busy making more to sell.
Maybe I'll look into it once this one's finished. It is nice welding all this new steel together and not having to chop out rust.

I'll just call it patina.

I had originally intended on modifying standard MK1 A-panels for this by flattening off the backs but after looking at pair I decided to make my own. This is partly because it wouldn't take much longer to make new ones than modify originals and also because I wanted to see if I could.
I started by taking a template from a Mk1 A-panel, flattening off the back, adding a 35MM flange and transferring it to steel.
With it cut out I tipped the edge up before doing a little shrinking and stretching and finally making a full 90 degree bend.
Then I folded the 35MM flange that will mount the front onto a plywood frame.
If course the tops of A-panels are curved so it was back to the shrinker to add some shape.
Here you can see the main difference between the stock panel and mine in the completely vertical back edge.
I used a couple Clecos to hold the new A-panels onto the rest of the front end.
Rather nice curves even if I do say so myself.
I also had a friend pop in and ask if I could make a new door for a built in tool box on his truck so I knocked this up.

Thanks guys (& Lyndsey), I've got a few potential ideas floating about in my head regarding internal storage. Working head lights and arm rests on top of the wings are definitely on the list.
I'm thinking about putting shelfs in the wheel wells although I'm not sure yet. There will certainly be plenty of room bellow it to hide crap.
I'm a gal too
