What makes a hub a performance item?   It s weight .. maybe..... a little......  but if you are planning to run heavy wheels it is a bit like trimming toenails to save weight

its ability to withstand bumps.... seems that the originals were pretty good at that

ball joints... now there is something to look into.. they both look to have the metro type which is a good thing, not sure if allowed in period type racing?

now even though you can't see them , they both look good but a bit pricey....imo  if you were to work out bang for performance buck, you would be better off using that money to get some sticky/track day tyres

Alloy hubs are a great way of reducing unsprung mass, just like putting light weight wheels on the car. It will make the suspension work to its best as more energy will be transferred to the cones and shocks. Sticky tires are only useful if you have an effective and efficient suspension set up.

Does anyone know how substantial the weight loss is?

25% lighter according to KAD, 1kg lighter according to minisport

I went for the Minisport hubs, and the quality is very nice indeed.  I went for these as there seemed to be a fair bit of bias towards the KAD ones, and their design from what i read online from various forums.

However if you do go for the Minisport ones i would run a tap through the helicoils before fitting the bolts, mine were very tight and ended up locking up one bolt which meant drilling it out and re-helicoiling it up.  So i tapped the rest and they all went fine.  And also keep an eye on the ball joints, as i got some very nasty looking ones, they probably worked fine but they had been attacked with a grinder.  I sent mine back for some better ones.

Thanks for all the advice guys helps a lot! The KAD ones are slightly heavier but the quality seems better so I think I'll go down the KAD route. Any objections let me know :)

I have the KAD ones, they look like nice bits of kit to me.

Also... if I ever need to carry any spares (its going to be a track car)  these can be put on either side, bit useful there for a tight wallet like mine

meant negative bias towards the kad ones!  Whats your point? That im an idiot?

The threads are out there on the kad ones if you do a search! The quality of the machining and material is great - i just had a slight issue with the fit of the helicoils, doesnt mean they are not good hubs - maybe i got the trainees hubs

not at all, I misunderstood what you meant, I thought you meant the reviews you read were positive towards the KAD ones

no offence meant
