I apply dielectric grease to all of my crimp connections to reduce the likelihood of corrosion. I also test every connector by pulling firmly on the connector whilst holding the wire. The occasional faulty crimp will thereby evidence itself. I've fully restored six vehicles and I've never experienced a connector-related electrical fault.

is it just me that when i had to redo my radio wiring loom that crimped and then filled the crimp with solder cause i knew my girlfriend (at the time) would end up pulling the wire out of the crimps with her feet?

In the course of doing any wiring mods or repairs it is important to properly route and clamp the looms.

It's a bit overkill but the un-insulated connectors with the covers look so much better than the horrible insulated blue connectors. They're also much more inkeeping with the original connectors.
