Any help would be appreciated...

My 1981 1275gt failed an mot a while back and one of the points was the hazards were not flashing fast enough.. Currently they flash around once per second but they need to be double this?

So, I bought another flasher unit and it made no difference. Is there anything else I can do?

Also, im not sure if the wiring has been tampered with previously as when the hazards are switched on, the flasher unit in the bulkhead is 'ticking' not the one behind the dash which I believe should be the one for the hazards, instead its like the hazards and indicators have been changed round?

The indicators seem to work fine.

Thanks

The flasher unit in the engine bay is a relay. Its this relay that ticks, not the hazard switch on your dash. Not sure about the frequency though. I dont know if you can buy relays with a faster switch frequency ?

On that age car they are bi-metallic flasher units, are you sure you have a good earth on the indiators and what is the voltage reading on the battery if they are checking the hazards with the engine off?

I thought the flash rate was 60-120 a minute so yours at 1 a second would meet the MOT Requirement
