Hello guys, i was looking over my car at the weekend and discovered that when i depress the throttle pedal all the way to the ground that it doesn't actually open the throttle on the carb all the way open. it stops about half a cm away from the stopper on the carb. I did check if there was any slack in the cable that could be causing this but it was tight already and i know that the cable hasn't stretched as it was a new cable last month.

is this normal or has anyone else had this problem before?

any one that can shine some light on this situation it will be greatly appreciated :)

my set up is

mg metro 1300
ballanced crank
286 kent cam
turbo oil pump
hif 44 carb
city e diff
cooper spi stage 4 head
Dual timing chain
Metro clutch

First off, does your carb have the correct throttle assembly as I've seen minis plodding about with the wrong type of arm?

Had this problem last week on a friends car. Our fix was to bend the throttle pedal up to provide more travel. I assume your pedal is reaching the carpet which is preventing full travel? It's also worth checking that you don't have a load of carpet underneath the pedal.

Thw metro throttle is the one with the snail cam & cable guide, the cable also has the plastic end that slides into a slot. An alternative to bending would be to add some packing under the pivot bracket for the pedal. Also have a look at how worn it is.
