It's another thing on the wish list for me.
Honestly it’s a must, you could be destroying your engine

In my case I didn’t try needle profiling, I used the “buy some needles and try them” techniqueWhen you say changes, are you talking needle profiling Timmy? Or adjusting the mix screw? Daz.You can get a good proportion of the tuning sorted on the driveway like AC does. Once you have the static tuning sorted you can go on the road and check the higher load points, note down what it’s doing and adjust accordingly
The best part about having the gauge is measuring what you have, making a change and seeing a measurable difference afterwards. It does take a bit of guesswork out of carb tuning (compared to things like the lift pin, vacuum gauges and using your ear)

Started with one needle, set the idle mixture correctly
Then I revved it up on the driveway to make sure it was in the ball park
Once I drive it around the block I realised I needed a richer needle, so I swapped the needle and set the idle again and repeated the process
I had a yellow and red spring and the yellow suited my engine better
Damper oil - I started on the thin side and worked my way up until it was adding the right amount of fuel when mashing the pedal down
It took me a couple of hours over a few days. I’m sure if I had a custom needle profiled it’d be even better, but for now it’s as good as I could get it. It’s lean while cruising and no hesitations
