Thinking of dipping my hubs in acid to clean rust of them. I have taken the bearings out but not the inner races ? will the acid damage the inner race ? I use a phophoric acid based rust cleaner.

Better off using a decarb dip and blast them... Go to the full post

Yes, the acid can etch the surfaces of the bearing races. Remove them before you proceed.
You will also need to thoroughly degrease the hub before you think about washing them with the acid.
