That's a mighty big turbo for a 1300cc(ish) motor based on the compressor chart. -but BMW did get 1400HP out of 1.5L in the F1 turebo days I guess. Is that from the large housing garrett GT family? Gonna be a bit laggy, but hold on when it comes up on boost!

R1's looking fab by the way.

True it is a big turbo I have thought about this long and hard. It is the Garrett ball bearing type with some proven other goodies to eliminate any lag.
One engine for straight lines and one for street is the plan.

Thanks again for comments.

It just needs one finishing toutch and that's the two stage rev limiter. Then it may be a magazine feature
At the back somewhere :w00t:

I have started all ready. I bought these today from good old ebay. Saved a total of £466.98 on these two items and they are brand new in the box. The chap with the external waste gate did not know what it was, he acquired it in a job lot. And it was not in the right section unfortunately :-

dont know if you remember (or care lol) chris walker and neal hodgson battling it out in brittish superbikes and walkers gsxr750 blowing up on the last corner well it dropped a valve due to a titanium retainer letting go i've spoken to a few bike engine builders one being a guy at TTS that prefur stainless due to their durability however this was a few years ago when they were pretty cutting edge technology its a bit old hat now there are probably better desgned ones now

sounds like its going to be a monster engine...

Yeh I remember that race was soooo gutted for Walker, we went to see them race at Mallory before hand and they were swapping paint then fair play to them.

Al, the rear windows are 5mm Lexan fitted as the normal glass would be. The door windows are fitted in the normal wound up position with a couple of screws retaining them at the bottom from the inside.
They could easily be kicked out in a crash this way.

Wow, just been through the 14pages and loved reading about it. what a fantastic project and amazing attention to detail.

Where did you get your little electric hot and cold fan/demisters? although i don't have a z cars mini, i want to get rid of my standard heater, and those fans look ideal. they work well?
