Been working on this, nothing has been that successful but its getting there! Got the engine back in, everything all connected up, then my mate broke the starter solenoid!
Put a new solenoid in, no ignition. Check earths, all good, I thought the loom might have been damaged so I stripped pretty much all of the loom tape off it, found nothing. Many many swear words later I gave up and started body work, cut the scuttle corners off and the drivers a panel.
Que my mate coming round to have a look at it, within 5 mins he found that I had put a wire on the wrong terminal of the solenoid and I had ignition and the car turned over, result! I’m not a leccy for a reason! Not started it yet however.
I was fortunate enough to borrow a mig welder from work, and I went out and bought some 0.6 wire for it. It was rather frustrating as the wire kept jamming every 5 seconds and after a lot more swearing I had enough and went to the pub for mayday
Today I thought I’d give it another go, swapped back to the 0.8 wire the welder already had in it and it worked beautifully! This was the first time I’d welded something so thin, and I hadn’t had much practice before so I’m quite pleased with how its come out. Did both scuttle corners and repair the a panel post.
