How have I only just come across this!!?? Awesome build! shame about the crash mate. Gutted for you (you spanner), but at least now you have an excuse to make that engine bay look nice and colourful. Starting to look like a box of lego!

Keep it up man!  ;D

Been working on this, nothing has been that successful but its getting there! Got the engine back in, everything all connected up, then my mate broke the starter solenoid!

Put a new solenoid in, no ignition. Check earths, all good, I thought the loom might have been damaged so I stripped pretty much all of the loom tape off it, found nothing. Many many swear words later I gave up and started body work, cut the scuttle corners off and the drivers a panel.

Que my mate coming round to have a look at it, within 5 mins he found that I had put a wire on the wrong terminal of the solenoid and I had ignition and the car turned over, result! I’m not a leccy for a reason! Not started it yet however.

I was fortunate enough to borrow a mig welder from work, and I went out and bought some 0.6 wire for it. It was rather frustrating as the wire kept jamming every 5 seconds and after a lot more swearing I had enough and went to the pub for mayday

Today I thought I’d give it another go, swapped back to the 0.8 wire the welder already had in it and it worked beautifully! This was the first time I’d welded something so thin, and I hadn’t had much practice before so I’m quite pleased with how its come out. Did both scuttle corners and repair the a panel post.

cheers mm! Yeh I decided it would be easiest and would sort of "future proof" it

.....talking of the flip front, I bought it 2nd hand, no idea of the brand, rather cheap and the old saying of "you get what you pay for" rang true. The fit was awful, particularly along the scuttle joins and needed alot of pushing and bending to get it into place. Its not that bad that its all in place but am kind of regretting not doing a metal one!

More things have been done, finished the welding, the A panel and tabs, filled the seam and scuttle, got some primer on it all. Also got a L2B ticket so it needs to be done!

Thanks alex  :proud:  yeh for the moment, just want to make L2B, not sure what I'll do with it, matt black? body colour?

Thanks mate, its getting there now! Yeh thats the look I'm aiming for!

Did a bit more, but it was pouring outside. Put the grille on, indicator lense, few stickers and got it on 4 Mercury's again. Also put the seam strips and sill/arch strips which makes a huge difference

I'm also having trouble with the front passenger indicator. All others work, but this one doesn't, bulb is fine. Where would this be fed from? Cant see the wire near the fuse box.

Yeh exactly  cheers for the props on the oil cooler, I couldn't leave it off!

Reading some of the comments on that video, its quite amusing how gassed people get and start hating on cars that aren't their own! Don't get me started on the retro rides thread of this!
