I made it to L2B, well, sort off Lots of hours were put into it to fix it in time, right down to the last minute! Set off and the temp gauge wasn’t working, it sat on ‘H’ the whole time so I was rather worried about it overheating, but it was good as gold. Made it to camping at CP, set off to brighton, made it all the way to brighton cliff top, even drove past the slip road going down to the sea front, and a exuberant u-turn put it out
. Here's some pics of it with my mates mini's on the day,

The top engine steady bolt had come loose and I think where I swung it round in a bus stop made the engine jump and loose drive. I feared the diff, as the driveshaft could move about 2” laterally.

I'm kinda gutted about not getting there, as it made it 99.9% of the way, but I didn't have to pay fuel going home and theres always next year!

Shame about the CV joint! But congrats on getting it done in time!
I actually quite like the white front ties in with the tyre writing nicely!

Was surprised when I saw this at the weekend as I only found the thread the week before. I was camping by you at crystal palace in a white (fairly boring looking ) Mayfair and I agree that the white front actual suits it along with the black a panels.

arrh such a shame you didn't make I saw your mini in palace and meant come say hi.
At least I wasn't the only one that didn't make it ....

Cheers man I think I'm gonna leave the front as it is for now, saving for new wheels
Glad to see you got nad back on the road, shame it was short lived. Nothing that can't be sorted though
Thanks Jim, yeh after what I've done a cv joint will be easy!

haha its quite a true statement on my apprentice wage . Thanks Vin, just need to enjoy it now

Cheers! I was really tempted but the costs of the 3 piece wheels were extortionate and I'm not a huge fan of the cut down 1 pieces! I'd much rather put money like that towards a engine conversion. I am tempted to get a spare KN Mercury alloy and see if it would be possible to get one of them split
Found a pic of it at L2B..

Pic heavy update! Few things have changed, I bought some new (to me) Avo shocks off a race car . Easy to fit, still adjusting them as a bit stiff atm lol. I also put a new water pump on it as the old one was a bit dodgy. Made a gear knob from some nylon on the lathe at work and some new sunvisors from a night out trophy too haha
I took it to Beaulieu Cooper Day too, got a good reception from it, which is always good. Had to put my old chromies on it as one of my curved seat wheel nuts thread stripped . Bought another grille too, same as the one I had before the bump so switched that in. Ran it really low which I loved, but after putting the Mercury's back on it wont go as low as before
Rear hilo's are maxed down too, so they will be off for a bit of modification!
Next up is to fit the adjustable bottom arms for some more front camber, but before I need to fix the rear positive camber, and whilst they are off the rear hilo's will get sorted. New wheels are still up in the air after the company I was going to buy from, and also others now decide they wont ship abroad.
Beaulieu;
