On the same topic, anyone know who the Morris dealers were in Carlisle in the early 60's?

Nice looking car, lots of potential there. I trust it is going back to original, with the same colour as well.

Thanks everyone, I haven't contact dvla yet but I think I might to get full history.

Could have been Marshalls in Peterborough. I'll check later to see if there were any other Austin/Rover dealers.

Interesting website it found my reg for my old Cooper S and where it was first registered, which I know to be correct as I have the heritage certificate, but it's no longer on the DVLA website so where do they get their info from.
They won't have found your individual car, it's a very generic number plate search website and much of the info they come back with is not 100% correct.

That's because it just uses the list mentioned earlier in the post...
Each registration office had a set of characters they use to identify the area... DU, CV were two very popular Coventry registrations..
Once the DVLA started to issue personalised plates and also reduced the number of local registration zones, it all goes a little to pot...
And now with the modern plates, there is no regionalism which is why it does not work on those plates...
I relies on the use then to enter information about the car, very similar in nature to the minisreunited website I created a number of years ago, which ran for a couple of years before it usage tailed off...
for example.... this is a load of *******...

It was first registered 2 years ago when I bought it for the company van

I don't have a logo - but they are still in business (as Land Rover and Jaguar, among others) so you could ask them if they have anything lying around, e.g. old letterheads?

They still have regions just the same on the new style format.

They are my local dealer, I remember going there when I was really young to look at the Minis for sale (around 1999/2000)! Worth contacting them to see if they've got any old info.
