Tonight me and my old man drove the mk1 out of the garage and wheeled Eko in. We removed the steering column and rack brake servo and pedal box. We also cut of the passenger inner wing and made the first repair of many fitting some fresh metal to which there was thin air. Some action shots lol the weld has temp spray paint to seal it I need to get some etch primer the weld needs a bit of filling in and flatting back with the sanding pad on the grinder, oh and a pic of me n the old man. Also a pile of the old mini lol

I did the same repair on mine, forgot to remove all the installation behind the dash- a small fire started! - live and learn eh.

Eko will be on the road in no time.

Ye hope so most repairs as just fabricating bits and welding in. ill need to buy a scuttle a panels inner + outer sills ill need to source better doors and a flip front but mainly small repairs thankfully. I bought my welder at the end of my mk1 project its a snap on mig nice to have a better range and control compared to my old gasless mig from screwfix. Looking forward to cracking on.

Well tonight saw me n the old man fabricate a piece of metal to repair the top of the drivers inner wing and blank off the fresh air vent pulled out the welder to find I had run out of gas :( not good but it did allow us to investigate the floors and remove the side glass headlining boot rear bumper and a few other bit.theres a black material on the underside of the floor pans that flakes off to revel fresh white paint. Happy days will be fitting inner and outer sills and only small repairs needed to the pans them selfs.

Looks like it's coming along. Will be a good feeling when all the rust is gone. I love builds like this where some would look at it like it could never be repaired

nice to see another basket case coming good.

almost wish i had gone down the route of a complete rusty car. I am finishing some ones else's unfinished project.

it should have been starting from where the previous owner left of but I seam to have to finish off lots of started but not quite done jobs all over the car.

the only bonus is that it had money spent on all the major bits eg engine gear box brakes ect with 95% of the bits to complete the car.

keep the pictures coming always good to see project moving on.

The top shock mount area is made up of more than just the inner wing

This is with the inner wing removed
