Hi all,

Just a quick one, i'm thinking of buying this radio...

http://www.amazon.co...tooth car radio

thinking of getting an amp and preferably 4 6x9's to go with, anyone recommend any specific speakers or an amp? Preferably on the cheap side!

Also, what would I need to fit it? Will it come with the back unit of the radio?

Sorry if some of these questions are a bit blatant but i'm absolutely clueless when it comes to electrics!!

Cheers!!

The radio has 4 x 50w RMS output, which is about average now for head units, what sort of music are you going to be playing? I ask because you going to have to decide if your going to run 6x9s and a Sub Woofer driven off the head unit + the 6x9s, or are you going to have a 2 Channel amp running the 6x9s off the pre-amp outputs?

Well I like music with a bit of bass you see, would 4 6x9's and an amp not be suitable for this? or would I need a sub. Only problem with a sub is finding the space really!

I don't really want to be losing quality though so would you advise a sub?

Cheers for the help!

6x9s will give a bit of bass, but nothing compared to a Sub, I did a Skoda VRs for a mate and he used the head unit connected to his
6x9s which we replaced the standard ones, and then fitted a 1000w amp in the boot with a sub and when it kicked in the pressure wave
would lift the closed tail gate off the rubber. If you go the amp route connected to 4 6x9s then it will have to be a 4 channel amp. Always spec up on speakers they are what control overhul power

To be honest those who like a lot of bass have been disapointed with out a sub, you can always install the head unit and the 6x9s and a 4 channel amp,and then if you want more bass hook up a sub later

Integrating a sub is always a challenge if you want to achieve a musical sound. However, if you just want pounding bass, this is not a concern. I've never heard a system with a sub that actually sounded musical yet, but it's probably because anyone who installs one wants to hear the sub rather than the music.

Thats why I asked about the Music, as some of the music is 80% sub lol

I think i'm going to go for the radio to amp to 4 speakers, then see how it is, doubt i'll need a sub but we'll see!

I shouldn't have any problems fitting the radio I listed up there should I?

Thanks for the help!!

No pretty stright forward just wire the 4 channels to the speakers or amp taking note of the corrections fro the + and - speaker connections

I wouldn't be going for 4 6x9's, you'll want a bit of tweeter/mid action in there.  Mine's no 'sound-off' system but I'm happy enough with it.  I have 2 6x9's in the kickboards and two co-axials in the dash vents.  You don't say what you want to spend?  If you can run to £50 these are what I have up front (not from this shop, this, I've since found, is cheaper): http://www.tanbycara....html?filter=94  Free delivery!

So the one's you sent the link to are the tweeters you where talking about? So if I was to run 2 6x9's aswel as these would I need an amp?

Just bought that radio listed above and looking at what else I need now

They are the co-axials I suggested.  There are loads out there, those are a 'decent' speaker though.  The Blaupunkt has 4 outputs so is a simple job.  Like KC says though, be aware of the +ve and -ve terminals and wire them in the same for all the speakers.  Use proper speaker wire which has the coloured strand down one half - makes life a lot easier :D

Happy days then so I don't need an amp, just 2 standard 6x9 type speakers and 2 of the ones you suggested?

If so i'll get them ordered!

Cheers pal

Just don't imagine you'll be winning any sound-offs with it!  As I said, my setup sounds reasonable to me.
