Upper Arm Bearing Issues

Hello all, I'm having issue's with new bearings I fitted to the upper arms, the old were removed with no problems but now new are fitted the pins won't go through.... Any advice to what I may have done wrong ??

how are you putting the bearings in sometimes you compress the cage as you fit them and then the pin wont go in

I used a press to fit new bearings, If that is what I have done is there a way to rectify it ?

The Needle Rollers are un-caged (or they should be!!) and so they can skew off from straight, and this reduces the diameter inside, even the slightest bit off is enough. Just use a small CLEAN screwdriver or O Ring Pick to straighten them up.

 

If the Needle Rollers are caged type, take them out - they are the wrong bearing (Idler Gear Bearings).

The ones i removed were the caged type so i assumed thats what i needed to replace them with.

After a bit of research i have come to realise i don't have caged bearings after all !!! Still struggling to work out how to fit new bearings without crushing the casing.....

Any tips ?

Round edge in first and push in straight.

I did mine recently. Mounted a g clamp in a vice horizontally, placed bearing against g clamp fixed part - square edge out. Put arm against bearing then use the clamp to squeeze them together, didn't take much force at all and about 2 mins if that to do both bearings.
