Hi,

If i want remote master cylinders and reservoirs without dishing out £400+ on a pedal box, what are my options?

Can you fit something like Willwood master cylinders to the standard pedal box with some modifications?

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks

JB

Want do you want? MC with remote pot or.....

There are many MCs that will fit on the pedal box in the engine bay.but finding the correct bore size is a must. But if you want dual with a balance adjuster nope not the room.

So why and what are you looking to achieve?

Single circuit system, you can improve the performance of the braking system by fitting an AP CP2623 family (imperial) cylinder into the standard pedal box with a revised clevis set-up-it is very tight. You can put the reservoir (Remote Girling type for puch on Master cylinders) wherever you like above the master cylinder level for gravity feed. There is less dead travel and as a result the brake pedal is better.

As above - note the bore size.

I changed the bore size to accomodate greater fluid volume for 4-pots using this type of set-up.

Thanks for the replies. I want the MC's inside the car and the reservoirs inside about above the MC's, obviously.

So fwdracer those AP MC's fit on the standard pedal box do they?

If so, do you have any pictures?

Thanks

Try google there are loads of pics of them fitted, but in the engine bay.

You wont get the AP cylinders sitting in the car due to pedal box geometry and the way the pedals actuate. See below of the random picture from Google. The AP cylinder will mount to the pedal box clevis (or via a new clevis to suit the thread on the AP cylinder) but will still sit in the engine bay, and then will require a low pressure feed line from a remove reservoir.

I asume you're looking to move the master cylinders inside the cabin to tidy up the engine bay?

Someone on Turbo Minis modified a standard pedal box by removing the section that clevis pin mounts and rotating it around 90 degrees. This meant that when the pedal was pressed the rod was pushed backwards instead of up.

Of course he also had to make a new mount to take a pair of M/Cs above the pedal box.

Yeah, you've got it Tupers!

Just didn't want to spend the money on a new pedal box!

I have been looking into Willwood setups. The one I've found needs a bracket making to mount it, minitec do this bracket, but id be able to make it as its only simple. someone posted about it in 2013, the post is called 'Willwood Complete Brake Setup Kit'.

Looks good, before I jump into it and buy anything. What advice are experiences have people had?

Cheers

Pic of AP master cylinder in standard pedal box location. I haven't tried to move the master cylinder/reservoir inside the car.
