All the old farts are the very people you are trying to copy? Unfortunately not that well as you are the ones who don't understand.

I do a lot of track days and I don't think I've seen anyone put tape over their lights?
Might have been common a long time ago, but definitely not these days.

Haha I'm not copying anyone m9
Yes you are, you are copying the competition drivers who had to put race-tape on their headlights to prevent any broken glass from falling on the track.
Your yellow headlights are copying the French who had to fit yellow bulbs so that they could tell their cars form the occupying Germans who had white lights.
But on a road car the only issue is poorer light output which equals reduced night-time safety and a 'boy-racer' image. However, if that is acceptable and you like it, then good luck with it.

Well I would never have guessed that was why the French used yellow headlamps. When did they change back to white?
When Euro regulations changed so that the French laws had to be altered.
It was said by some that 'yellow' indicated a national attitude from 1939/40, but I couldn't possibly comment .
I can recall driving in France with my white lights which used to annoy the French. Many thought that it was a requirement to fit yellow bulbs or to paint the lights yellow when driving in France, but that was not the case. It was only French registered vehicles which had to have yellow lights. The belief was that yellow dazzled less. Well it did, because the light output was lower, but that was STFO .
