Look what's on Ebay. Why would anyone do this?

It just makes me feel sorry for that poor, poor Mini. All that will happen is someone will buy it, and put it right, surely?

It would be easy to put back to original and thus restore it as a proper classic car.

True but not for that sort of money!

I'm pretty sure that same car was on eBay about 6 months ago and didn't sell... wonder why...? Looks like it's not massively modified though so probably easy to restore as Cooperman said. Still wouldn't part with anywhere near £5k for it though. It's injection too, was there any spi's manufactured as early as '92 or is it an engine swap?

Injection from late 1991 if memory serves me.

If it was in original condition it would be worth the asking price, so to determine a value simply deduct the cost or rebuilding it back to standard. That could be done for £2k, so it is actually worth c.£3k - well, that's all I would be prepared to pay for it in its present horrible-looking state.

I'm sure "back in the day" there was a coach built mini with merc headlights? At first glance It only needs a couple wings and a front panel?

And you would have all those spare parts for your 1976 Mercedes Benz 220E !!

Not everyone has the same taste.
I admire the work put in to do so.
I bet if the minis came like that standard and then someone put the lights in what it has now you would all be critical so just think before you put down another persons hard work.

And those lights and that grille aren't exactly cheap either, make some of your cost back!
