The O.P. was asking what we thought of it.

Personally I think it looks horrible and I'm entitled to reply in that way as we all are and several have.

To me it's as hideous as, say, putting a Cadillac grille and fins on a Jaguar E-type or a Ford Edsel grille on a Rolls-Royce.  I see them all as true classic cars which should be cherished as 'special' for what they are and what they represent. But then, I wouldn't put IKEA furniture doors on an antique piece of furniture either or paint a moustache on the Mona Lisa.

Each to their own and those who think this Mini looks superb are equally entitled to reply in that way.

But it sure has de-valued it.

Read the OP, he doesn't ask what we think. He stated its an Abomination, and questioned why anyone would do it.
However I agree with your sentiment. A Ford Edsel grill shouldn't even be on a Ford Edsel!
Re the value, I would imagine the original car had a pretty smashed up front, common sense that is whet you would look for if doing such a project.

Thats different for sure, not my cup o tea but I would Iike to see it at shows and would probably remember it over other cars.
Would i start a thread attacking the guys car? Nope!

Minis have always been modified right from the very start and to me its part of the fun of ownership. I wouldnt slate someone for spending as much as a good house deposit on restoring something to complete standard either though.

Its an age old thing of one mans meat is anothers poison...
The replies centre more on the OP and the way the thread was handled. If the car was posted up and the OP just asked what we thought then i dont think there would have been an issue? We are of course all entitled to our opinions.

You have to admire the work that went into it even if you don't like the result.

It's not my cup of tea- a marmite car( love it or hate it) ! But I like the idea that someone has been very creative, and spent a lot of time and effort trying to be different, so I do respect the person who made it...but I still hate the car!!!
