Ok heard it, it doesn't sound like little end or piston contacting head, too rattly for piston ring damage, if it was the other end I would say timing chain, but even that isn't quite right...... how about a bent push rod

Do you get it under load ? constant rpm ? or on up rev /down rev ?

Did you try 4th gear stationary ?

The noise goes away when under load. So say when i'm driving any speed, any rpm, any gear, the noise happens when i lightly press the throttle pedal. Noise also happens like in the video when revving, tends to be when the revs slow down. Gets louder/happens more when the engine gets up to temp and/or driving for 20mins at 70mph. Hope any of that makes sense.

Also i checked the push rods when i did the head gasket recently. All clearances are set correct.

I should be able to find answer to this soon anyway, i have a 1275 lined up to go in next month then ill be able to tear it down.

Ok it does sound like llittle end, does it feel like it has lost power at all ?

Hello

no expert advice here, but something that has helped me with these kinds of noises is the big fat screwdriver trick

put the steel end of a large, long driver, preferably with a large wooden handle too, on the block as close to the noise as possible,

be careful of hair and clothes etc, then stick your ear on the handle of the screwdriver, you will be amazed at how much the sound is amplified

but I guess you have already done something like that

Had a mini the other day and it turned out to be the fan belt pulley below the water pump, the bolt had loosened and knocked the woodruff key around a bit.

The chap was ok with cranking the bolt up and replacing the lock tab but it would no doubt have wreaked the key-way and thrown the cam timing out.

Years ago I pulled a MG Metro motor out, swapped gearboxes and dropped in a known good motor as it sounded like the crank or small end had gone. It turned out to be a knackered starter motor bush that allowed enough movement to hit the flywheel. Oh how I laughed :(

Also check water pump and alternator bearings before pulling the motor. As above the screw driver trick helps.
