I went to Brooklands Mini Day yesterday, I recently have just overhalled all the brakes and wheel bearings, I finished the night before the run to brooklands went perfectly well Even managed 3 runs up the test hill grin emoticon .On the way home my rear wheel bearing started Juddering on the A3 to the the M25, coming up the slip road on the M25 the Juddering uts had became drematically worse so I assumed it may be the wheel nuts had become loose so I t...ightened them on the Hard Shoulder on the M25 Not the most "ideal" Place to do it carried on up the hard shoulder merged out and continued up the 25. i pulled in at Cobham Services and going round the harpin into the services the back of the car felt as if it was going to "Disconnect" from the front as soon as I entered the service i examine the Wheel and the bearings were completely, Well I'm gonna use a "Technical Term Here" there "*******" So I ring RAC the Patrol Turns up get the wheel off and the bearing had disintergrated and Welded itself to the inside of the Hub and the Castle Nut... So i got recovered home this morning whilst stripping it all down the Castle Nut Had to be drilled out as it as welded to the washer released it and pulled the hub off and half the bearings are still attached.
So i rang Mini Spares and spoke to Ivan who was more than helpful, after giving him a List of the parts that needed replacing he was happy enough to send me replacements of all the parts required; NEW Rear Wheel Bearings(TIMKEN), Wheel Studs, Radius Arm Stub Axle RH, Rear Hub & Rear Wheel Cylinder. and also sent me replacement bearings for the LH Side also for no extra cost!! In the 5 Years of owning Minis My 1997 Rover Mini Cooper 1275Cc & 1980 Austin Clubman Estate 998Cc I have never had this issue with any of Mini Spares Parts before and I would like to thank Ivan for his quick and fast response and sorting me replacements in the post that day.... if anyone else had this issue please PM or post a response on here Thankyou
