The problem is, with the cuts in Policing there isn't the resources to deal with stuff like this.

anyone want to buy my spare log book? Would be perfect for a stolen car.... Or like alot of mini shells with no v5 would be even better for that. I don't get why every one thinks they would be used for stolen minis if a tax exempt one popped up forsale I would buy it.
I have tried stealing minis before but they are so unreliable they break down before I even get them back to ring them.

Why would you do that?
You would remove the classic status of your genuine car because the configuration would not match the year of the car and you would also be guilty of fraud and run the risk of the car being seized by HMRC.
Where is the logic in that?

I would do it because of the 1.8 in my car would save taxing it, its so far from original. What's the chances of getting caught? Fair enough if you had a 2000 mini and run it on say a 1963 plate chances are high but say a 1980s one with a 1972 plate would be surprised if police would notice

The owners of genuine '63 cars might be justified in being peeved at fakes devaluing theirs, jeopardising the privilege of free road tax and quite probably bumping up their insurance premiums.

Guess who has just found a very desireable v5 and loads of service/mot history for a mini!, got given it in a box of old books and manuals etc ages ago and just decided to put up a shelf for all my car books as the workbench was getting full of books instead of tools, lol.
Would I be a hypocrite to stick it on ebay? HA :-D
You will need an old picture of a scrap mini from google first lol

I suspect it's long gone anyway, doesn't come up with anything on the checker thing.
I suppose I should actually put my money where my mouth is shouldn't I
GOM 660D 1966 Countryman 850 in red. If the other half turns up I'm happy to reunite it with the paperwork upon detailed pics of the vin and engine number at my discretion,
