Not trying to be rude but this is a CLASSIC Mini site so not may of us own/know/or care about the BMW Mini
.... you'd be better off joining a site such as Mini2.com

Humm, Just signed up to this site as it was useful for information that I asked re a 2002 mini cooper. Seeing as the last mini was built in 2000 that response was "a bit rude" and quite off putting for someone who is a novice and looking for advice. I was welcomed to sign up, but maybe others may not bother if this is the first post they see upon registering. I am sure it is not the attitude of the rest of the Mini community when someone asks for help, even if its "not quite old enough".

Hi Becci, It's not that we're being rude or the Mini is not quite old enough it's simply because its a completely different type of car. Of the thousands of members on here very, very few will have any experience of a BMW mini. We try to explain it on sign up but I guess quite a few people don't realise the difference.Humm, Just signed up to this site as it was useful for information that I asked re a 2002 mini cooper. It's already been mentioned, hence Rockets comment above, it just seems diplomacy is everyone's strong suit.I can't believe the muppets on here consistently being rude (whilst saying they aren't!) to owners of new minis. A simple comment like 'this site is aimed at classic mini owners so perhaps try mini 2. Com for a more informed answer' isn't difficult and I don't get the need for the comments which pretty much say 'f£ck off'.
Site admins, I for one think that these responses do the site no favours so please have a word with the idiots who seemingly take pleasure at being obnoxious to bini owners.

Yes, and I don't like them being called Bini's, in the States we differentiate the two cars by calling our classics Minis, and the later ones MINIs......FWIW.
I own one of each, by the way.
However to the OP's question, I wouldn't buy any high mileage car of any brand if I couldn't do all my own work, same with classic Minis......

Is it possible to have a MINI sub forum for all the people that are interested in them?
