RIGHT!!! a quick update on whats happning.

I have been offered a set of 10x6's, shocks, miglia arches, cooper mirriors and a MG 1275 engine.
I am hopping to take my currnet 998 out and try to get as much BHP out of the 1275 as i can over winter and then hopefully by spring time next year it will be ready to go in.

I am not thinking of spending loads on the engine but i would like to run a turbo so what will i need as i have decided to drop the idea of geting a turbo i think i will just modify a standard 1275.

Thanks, Tomm

I have just come across a metro 1293 turbo short engine

1293cc
balanced crank & rods. std size mains and rod bearings.
hepolite 21253's with 11cc dish, 20thou deck height.
avonbar phase 2 cam
Avonbar proper turbo oil pump.

£250-00

Is this a good price for this sort of engine? At the moment it is unbuilt but it really has tickled my fancey.

Is this from bud666 on minifinity? Yeah that looks like a bargain as it's basically an engine kit same as you would buy from anyof the companys. I think turbo engine kits are about 700 from the likes of morspeed so that is a good price and the guy seems honest so i would go for it mate.

yeah it's mine, cheers for the vote of confidence hoggy ;D

i've decided its time to go 73.5mm so seeing as i've got a new car aswell i'm going to build a new engine for it, just going to re-use my box and head hence why its just the short motor for sale.

Do you have any pics of the engine in your car Bud? I am very intrested but just need some persuasion as ive never done this before?

I found a list of ocmponents i need:-

1- A Turbo bulkhead box
2- Turbo downpipe
3- Clamp on type air filter
4- Decent large bore exhaust system
5- Decent radiator
6- Also worth adding is a braided Turbo oil feed pipe, so you can do away with the nasty standard one.

I bought a stage one kit for my 998 before i decided to turbo which is a dtm 3" system will this be enough for the large bore exhaust system? I dont mean the manifolds and that i mean the link pipe and back box itself

You need a lot more then that?

That looks like a list of parts you need in addition to all the turbo bits that come standard on a metro turbo, if fitted in a mini?

yeh yeh sorry i forgot to mention that, as far as i know i will also need

High pressure fuel pump
Fuel pressure regulator
Air intake pipe
And the oil cooler
Turbo bulkhead box
Turbo downpipe
Clamp on type air filter
Decent large bore exhaust system
Decent radiator
braided Turbo oil feed pipe.
Intercooler, heard Cosworth intercoolers arent to bad?

I also intentend to change my subframe brakes and suspention to cope with the extra power from the turbo.

This is all i can think of, am i missing anything?

Thanks, Tomm...

hi mate
you dont need to change your subframe at least i hope not ;D
as for brakes my mate is running 190bhp in his turbo and using cooper s brakes without a servo up front and minifins on the rear
alot of people i have spoken to recommend the series 2 rs turbo intercooler and this is what mine will be running

Hopefully that engine will be mine in a few weeks!!

I just thought changing the subframe would be better than finding out it wasnt structually up to it whilst the engine was in the car, At the moment i am focusing on getting the engine into the car and getting it running right and as i have no cencept of engines i think it will be quite a job but i have ages to do it all.
