my mini has always had a slight wiff of petrol, but this evening, when i got in it after work. it stank of petrol !!!

Any ideas??

Maybe a leak somewhere getting into the back? It it has it could have been absorbed by the rear saet and then your stuck with it!

look in the boot at the top of the tank... bet its the breather pipe.... mine came off last week had a sore throat for days.

My missus' smells everytime she goes to the petrol station, and for a few days afterwards...
Found out later when i was following her why, it was gushing out the filler cap where it was so overfilled!

if the next family car is a diesel she will put petrol in it

We're on LPG and petrol so i got an account at countrywide farmers lpg which is cheaper than most Petrol stations.... she uses that!!.... and i get the bill every month

mine always smells when i fill it right up i think it over flows as the petrol cap isn't exactly fantastic

where i put my bulkhead box in for my dellorto i didnt seal it right so when the dellorto is runnin everynow and again it pops and a strong smell of fuel arives in the compartment, people get in and are like what is that!

What year mini is it? If its a distint smell, could be theres a mixture problem or the seal is wearing on the fuel float chamber?

its an '82 mini, with a '91 998 engine. its just had all the engine changed and the carb cleaned

All my mini's smell of petrl, but do you have the verflow pipe attached to the carb, also check petrol pipes for ill fitting connections

Mine smells mostly of Valvemaster Plus, having not put the fiddly b@st of a lid back on properly once or twice.
