The polo I smacked came off with a smashed headlight which I suppose is quite fortunate...the front end on Sir D was a little on the rusty side anyhow...time for a front end!

hopefully gonna be drivable by this evening - just a case of knocking 10 bells into the front pannel to get it out of the way of the wheel.

I cut in early to get into a junction and didn't spot the Polo coming out - she was almost stationary so the damage was minimal. So I hit her...unfortunate and somewhat stupid but you live and learn
Yeah the idicators and headlight still works (just a bit scratched) and the wheel arch is almost completely untouched...its a shame as all the the body work underneath the arch was perfectly intact (where they are so prone to rusting).
Can't shut the bonnet (but as said above its untouched) as the top section of the wing has dented inward by about 1/4" ...but the inner wing is surprisingly straight - and no ammount of lying on the road underneath picked up anything suspicious.

Sorting initial repairs tonight - knocking the front vallance and panel away from the wheel, and removing the wheel arch to prevent more damage - then arranging with the insurance company after that.
At the minimum its a wing (2 wings more likely so I can get shot of all the rusty bits), frontpanel and front vallance. As far as I can see the sub frame, tie bar and supports are all fine....just lucky it was that part of the car and no other.

Pulled and smacked Sir D into a driveable state this evening at the managers house - I dont think I've ever enjoyed watching a 5ft long scaffold pole attacking an MPI so much
Off to the garages for quotes tommorow, then attempting to drive a 1983 Mayfair all over again...its gonna be like going from the lone ranger to a horse and cart!

After all you want it's face to look right and not have a crooked smile thanks to ill fitting panels.
Any good body shop can put it back to how it was, but don't bother with insurance recommended repairers because most are worst than useless on any car and even worst on Mini's.

There's one that comes highly recommended by an awfull lot of mini owners which I'm visiting tommorow so fingers crossed there. They're called Hollies - based on the Wellington side of Taunton (incase anyone knows them). Their Mini work is the dogs danglies and 2 of the mekkis there are mini finatics anyway - which is always a good start
Well that sounds promising then.
