Hi all.

I really can't decide, do I go for 12" wheels or 13" wheels with sportspack arches. I really do like the look of 13" but don't like the idea of cutting the front end.

Could I get away with 12" with wide tyres and the sportspack arches or would it look weird ?

Post your photos and help me decide please.

Thanks.

Pete.

you often need to cut the wings with 10s so plan for cutting the wings whatever. even when the required steering rack travel reducers are fitted.

rides better on 10s.

Its not the rim size that makes you need to cut the wings, its the width and/or offset that is the problem.
Overall circumference of 10,12 and 13 inch tyres is much the same.

12" are much better than 13" for reasons explained on here by experts like Keith Calver.
Do 13" look better? That is just personal opinion.

Fitting sports pack arches requires wing surgery regardless of whether you fit 10", 12" or 13" wheels.

P&L deep dish 12x6 alloys look good with sport pack arches (& weight about half as much as the Rover 13x6!) http://www.plminisho...lcon_Tyres.html

I've got a MPI Sportspack with13x6 (haven't fitted my 12x6 allos yet) -professionally set up fully adjustable suspension & it's brilliant ....  & yet i still prefer the nimbleness & feedback i got from my old 165/60/12 shod banger.

Keep what you've got & spend the money on replacing any worn out suspension parts & the best tyres you can afford.

I find the handling on 12's is much better than 13's. But then I am talking about 12 x4.5s or 12 x 5s. I'd possibly go out to 12 x5.5, but that would be it. But depending on offset the 12 x 5.5s will need wing chopping.

I have 7x13 with 175/50 13 Yoko's on mine. I changed them for the look they give and in my opinion they look good. Having said that, for handling I would not choose them (they follow every bump, tramline and white line on the road) the 12's are better. Although you haven't mentioned it, for the best combination of looks and handling in my opinion I would go 10's every time.

I'm fitting 10x7 Revo's to my MPI... What's this talk of steering rack reducers being needed? Are these something else to add to the ever growing minispares list.
