I've gone from 10's to 13's and haven't really noticed any difference. I prefer the looks over 13's to 12's tho

The problem is that the widest tyres, which are about ideal, are a 165 section width for both 10" and 12" rims. A 165 tyre should not be fitted on a rim wider than 6". A stretched tyres is not good and may be deemed unsafe under Construction and Use regulations.
The 7" wide 10"rim is intended for racing tyres which are not road legal.

If your car has the 8.4 inch discs set up already I would go for 12 inch as they handle better and wheel bearing etc last longer than with the 13 inch wheels. If it is a shell without brakes you could go for 10 inch wheels and the 7.5 inch disc set up.

The car is a 1997 MPI with skinny 12" wheels. So whatever I do is going to cost me money. I do like the wide 12" blue mini in the link.

Looks better on 10", was designed for 10" and rides better on 10".

12's. But nothing beats a mini on 10's. I'm really not a fan on 13's and think they look too big on a mini. The smaller the wheel the better and 10's with chunky tyres looks ace

It rides best on 10" because the tyre sidewalls are the deepest ans as such give extra suspension capability. That's why 13" are not so good for ride, road-holding or handling.

I'm fitting 10x7 Revo's to my MPI... What's this talk of steering rack reducers being needed? Are these something else to add to the ever growing minispares list.

Most mpi's have them as standard, definitely the sportspack.

Quite like the idea of 12" now, looks kind of old school, chunky etc.

The chunkier the tyre the better I think. I like my wheels, but if I had to money, I would convert to 10's
