you know what they say about people with small tanks :ermm:

I only need it to go up a hill - but should be good for a few laps on a track day even so.

If mine, could well be on wrong, obviously never built one b4 so corrections most welcome - including pictures of how you fitted yours? Take it that you also runa zcar?

Yeah i ment yours (pic doesnt seem to work)
Im not building a Z car, but im using R1minimagic's front suspension from his before he changed the front subframe (so its the same as what your using)
I guess if it fit on without having to bend anything then its alright,
But im sure the fitted them the other way on the DVD.
With the gap at the front so you can put more bolts through if you want to strengthen it.

On a similar note, you wouldnt know the spring rates for the front?
Its not low enough and the springs are fully undone, so i think i need shorter springs if i am to lower any more :ermm:

I will have a look at the DVD, didn't have to bend anything and fitted extra bolts as well. If I have done it wrong, thanks for pointing it out.

No idea of spring rate - sorry.

I striped mine before i fitted my front suspension and they are 80lb springs, By the way if you go any lower with the mini front suspension you will get chronic bumpsteer as the suspension arms shouldnt run past being level.
A soon as they do you will remove any camber you have set as the more the car dives under braking etc the camber angle will reduce instead of increasing to help you go round a corner, hence the reason for chris making the new subframe with a lower centre pivot points.

Cheers

Definately only 80lb as i checked and made a note in case i need to change them when im setting it up.
I only used to run 180lb springs on the front of my escort with a pinto in the front!!!

Hmm I think your might be right Dave. My original one with my front subby were 200lbs and the front wouldn't settle very well going over bump without loads of damping (in fact so much damping that the car lost all front end feel) Now have 180lb springs and it's much happier!

Darn it, so the only way to lower it without effecting suspension angles is to reposition the suspension arm mounts. Or put up with no lower than horizontal top arms (which it is at the moment).

R1minimagic had the front end pretty low with these coilover setup, which arm are talking about being horizontal?

You can have the top arm at a reasonable angle as long as it isn't ultra low and at 45degrees!

Cheers
David
