I tried spraying wd40 everywhere, used the rubber glove trick last winter... on the mini that is! Worked for a while... ended up servicing the mini: distributer cap, lead, and sparks. Then after that it was fine!

Well I have a little Neon as well (Jerri is her name). I was having the same problem last year. Changed the distributor cap, HT Leads, points, plugs, some petrolum jelly around the distributor followed by a spary of WD40------- this has only been done the once, and Jerri was doing 200 miles per day every work day last year.
Needless to say bought her some new stuff and she has been a pain in the behind every since. Me thinks that she does not like toys.......
Just have a problem with the rest of the engine now... Thinks that I have to change the other engine steady and the engine supports bits..... lots of reading to do me thinks

Try not to use WD40 unless it's a get me home emergency (and then clean it all off as soon as possible), because it sits on the HT Leads and attracts dirt, thus affecting the performance etc.
Best to keep everything clean, use the weathershield (which should also be clean of oil/dirt etc) provided and renew all electrical components when necessary.
Should be sound as a pound then!
