Make sure you get pretty much everything! E.g. Engine, Gearbox. Engine/gearbox mounts, Engine Loom and front car Loom, all fuse boxes, stalks (If wanted) Dials (if wanted) switches (If wanted), Drive shafts, gear linkage, Intake/Exhaust Manifold.

I think thats just about it, but people suggest to get a whole donor car to make things easier.

dont you need the engines Ecu as well unless going the standalone management route? and to be fair there is some baragin donor cars about if you look remember the car can be as rough as you like as long as the engines runs sweet if you can get a good donor car for about £1000-1200 then you will be in a much better situation than just an engine and box for £800 and you could sell parts off the car to make money back

wayne

LOL yes you do need the ECU, i knew i would forget things! The fuel pump could help to! Also the radiator depending on you set up.

As i said i paid £900 and got everything i needed and the bloke even said if you need anything else just give me a ring and i'll either post it or you can come pick it up.

ok sorry for the lack of updates , have been spending most of the last month getting rid of rust ! , which i cant be bothered to tell you lot about as thats the borring bit anyway.

ok so what i have done ... first off i have moved the servo accross as the customers wants a servo , and we are running std ecu/dizzy and the dizzy gets in the way. I could have gone for a remote servo etc but was more happy keeping with std master/servo setup as you know it works.

Posted Image
also was able to mount the clutch master as well in the setup.
next was the alternator position/bracket :

Posted Image

now the old gearlinkage has allways bothered me , as it does not leave any room for an exhaust (without losing ground clearance) :
old :
Posted Image

so came up with the idea to mount the pivot point just inside the car (can still be hidden under the gear lever gater :
Posted Image
i dont have a finished pic of the inside but you get the drift. i then made up a new link bar to run allong side the selector bar, :
Posted Image
this then gives allot more clearance through to the back :
Posted Image
i still think the support bar can go up , so it might come off again to give me another 1/2 inch more room.

the all new 16v mini shop 2 1/2 inch back box is in :
Posted Image
fits to std mini mounts ,will not be cheap .. but is VERY shiny.
not happy with the jetex silencer :
Posted Image
as it is a little to big for me to be happy with ground clearence, as this is a system that will be fitted to other cars.

hope you enjoy .. might be off to the paint shop in a few weeks :xxx:

Looking good :)

:xxx: at least you can fit a silencer between the engine and the rear of the car!!!
Ive been looking at the 2.5" stainless stuff you have, will have to check some measurements for the silencer :w00t:

ok final resting place for the alternator, yes my last brain wave did not work. Have used a tensioner to allow the belt to miss the engine mounts/frame

Floor pans have now been replaced as well , just some holes to fix in the boot then thats all the rust gone.
Posted Image

Front end fixed on , not happy with the passenger side scuttle join. will have to fix that before painting.

pic of the internal'ish gear linkage :

floor plates have been welded in. now have some finishing jobs before it all comes apart for painting.

This is a great project to watch.

How much do you charge for the conversion?

Nice project, will the interior be left in the car or are you fitting buckets/racing seats?
