riiight i thort it was time id start a topic in here, altho im not going to start the project fully till i have some money i thort it might interest some people to know what i plan to do.
first this is what my mini used to look like(apart from a few things on there)
Attached File  DSCN1724.JPG   368.59K   19 downloadsAttached File  DSCN1725.JPG   370.08K   31 downloads
and this is what it looks like at the moment
Attached File  DSCN2315.JPG   389.77K   50 downloads
well the plans are to turbo it, and use it as a tarmac rally car i havent got a series in mind yet i thort about building the car up then finding the route.

the engine i wish to be putting in it (inshort) is a 1275 +60thou and with a long stroke crank (i had 84mm stroke in mind which i believe makes 1374?!?) i chose to go +60 rather to a bore of 73.5 because the turbo pressure and the wall width, the head to be turbo stage 4 and the cam i havent decided on.
the clutch i was going to go for a double gray but was told it damages the crank so single gray looks like the route i will choose, the flywheel will be lightend aswell.
i have read about some of the sequential dog gearbox's and im very tempted by one of these but i wil have to see near to the time of perchase :w00t: i will also have a Quaife ATB

the body im going for a colour similar to focus ST orange, carbon fibre miglia arches 10X6 wellers spaced out in black, the doors are going to be steel framed and (body coloured) CF door skin, considering a CF roof aswell
the suspension i havent decided too much on yet but front and rear anti rolebars, will be lowered a bit but not too much so i can still race about the rally stages.

protection well beee full FIA role cage with dash door bracing i also want harness tbar aswell, the seats are going to be OMP FIA aproved drive seat with helmate cage and drives identicle but without 6 point harnesses aswell

anyway thats about all i can think about at the moment, im hoping for about 150bhp and not expecting it to be kept on the road for long after compleation

Sounds good mate. I wouldnt have thought a cf roof would be too good though if you rolled it? Have you thought bout supercharging it? I would have thought that would be better for a rally car?

Did you mean LSD rather than LCB? or are you talking about the exhaust?
Dont think Quaife actually make LSDs, thought they were ATB diffs.
(sorry just being picky).
Sounds good though,
Although if you want a sequential dogbox they are pretty pricey :w00t:

oops, im not used to typing that much so was kinda on auto type, i corrected to ATB thats the 1 i ment
as for the sequential, i know there very expensive so it might be a case of get everything else sorted 1st n splash out when i can do, but it would be nice quite different

don't mean to call your mate a bullsh*ter but the chatter sound isn't the wastegate. it is the sound of air being pushed back through the turbo blades causing it to stall, creating that much loved chatter! although the sound is nice it is damaging your turbo and would cause premature failure. idealy you need a dump valve, which will get rid of the chatter and prolong the life of your turbo. external wastegates are really needed unless your puching serious power (400+) even then they are a bugger to set up properly. just my 5p worth

i know about the chatter caused by the air passing back through the tubine blades but im not entierly sure ether but he mentioned u can still get same noise from external...tho im not sure if i got wrong end of the stick anywho im not goin about to damage my turbo so dumpvalve it is then, defo would have been nice tho! aaah well

also dont worry i dont want to be pansy with the tarmac stages also light gravel, u know with the corner cuts over the country roads (sparks flying from sumpgaurd etc :w00t: )

CF roofs are a big no no unless you have a A FULL roll cage + more shell strengthening!!

also you will have to fins a way of bonmding it in place with out it looking arse, they are a notoriously bad fit,.. and this is because they are designed to for RACE USE ONLY! they are foten bolted down so they are removable.

not crushing your plans dude, but it's a lot of bother to go to when you could spend your money much better else where i.e. engine and suspension!! i really wouldn't recommend it.

hmm, seems like iv changed my mind, and have for for a while now....the new plans mean the name of my topic should change....if a mod could change it to "tarmac rally mini" that would be ace :gimme: thanks

anyway the new plans, jeez where to start its gona cost a bit more i expect...basicly i want it to now be supercharged.

i was kept up all night thinking about what i could do to my mini and iv decided that it will be:
Block ether a 1384 or 1420 block or somthing like that i wanted a stroked engine as i believe this will create alot of torque nice for acceleration needed in motorsports,
Head is going to be an 8 port, which will mean alot of custom work will be needed to get the supercharger running to the ports
Fueling running throttle bodys connecting to each port on the head
Ingnition/Electronics will be running an ECU to controle the amount of fuel entering the engine also will be used to controle the spark ignition
Bottom End This is staying as i wanted before with sequential box and LSD/ATB
Body The body im now again thinking about keeping it white but am not sure, iv decided i dont realy want to go for carbon fibre arches anymore with wide split rims as a believe that they will just get trashed with the strones from the road being flicked at them, definatly keeping the steel roof for saftey reasons

if theres any sujestions from people please dont hesitate to add anything, this is going to be one hell of a job so will be taking a bit more time than i thort for the turbo project

nope 10X6 wellers, referbished 1 just before my engine went i was going to sell them as i wanted splits but they would also just get trashed, steel wellers ill be able to upkeep quite easily if they get bent just chuck em n jump on egay
