She's on the road, MOT'd Insured and nearly taxed! not as amazingly quick as i'd expected but then ive nothing to compare it to except my daily drive (285hp)

The sound is orgasmic mind, so that makes up for it. BH2N will be interesting as 70mph is 4000rpm. I'd say shes flat out around 110mph nothing more on 13" rims. Ideally Im gonna try and find a better final drive and get 70mph to 3000rpm.

Im so chuffed, she passed first time and without a single advisory. Thats a first ever for me and mini's :D

Just an update really, shes on the road so the last thing i fancy doing is updating my project thread as you can imagine. Hell of a nice car to drive and handling hasn't been compromised at all which was my biggest worry.

my only gripe at the moment is that the gearing is pretty bad. I was hoping the 416 box would be the best out of all as its the most grandad car of the lot but it seems with the 13's its very very high geared. In first i can manage 25mph at redline, 2nd is about 50 redline, 3rd is about 90 redline, 4th 110, 5th not tried but 110@5600rpm.

1st is carp only good for hill starts and burnouts. Ideally second should be first and have a middle gear between 4th and 5th. Will have to check FD ratios and see what i can do.

Other than that, its just like a mini. Wet inside, cold, condensation in the windows, sqeaky, bouncy, rusty, tiny... its bloody awesome.

next update will be post-nurburgring i expect. :P

Gearing sounds perfect to me. Should rev round to 7k so should pull 125+
You should be fine with any of the oe final drives from an R65u gearbox on 13s, especially as I think there is only one option!
I will try and find out if the non uprated r65 box has got a different fd.

I have run into a couple of problems, firstly i think the fuel swirl pot is not sufficient in size for the engine, especially at full chat. And the past couple of days shes been dying and coughing at me.

The alternator was shot but i managed to get hold of an MGF alternator which is 85amp rather than the 65amps of most other Kseries alternators. That seems to have cured the power issue.

Going to look over megasquirt tomorrow and see what i changed as i removed warmup enrichment for a start (hardly need any) and advanced the ignition timing a couple of degrees to give a bit better response past 6000rpm.

Also, ive been getting a bit bored of the power  so now ive got a nitrous oxide wet kit to go on. It was only a single fogger system but i have already ordered the parts to make it direct port injection. Im starting at 20hp jets, which will give me 80hp over all four cylinders bringing it up to 220hp when on. its a shame i had to cheat to acheive this power. but when the 1.8's running 200hp that should be fun with 280hp :techsupport:

I will be running a metro 1.1 8v gearbox which has a final drive of 3.54:1 and a calculated 70mph at 2900rpm.

Sounds good mate, do you think it was the alternator that was causing you problems recently?

Lol did you go and get the nitrous oxide another day or did you just tanke another car? Should make things a bit more fun when you have that installed :dontgetit:

Good to hear as iv got that box sitting im my garage lol, just got the get the block head and look and i should be ready to do the conversion :P

Ill just be going for a standard 1.6 at first i think and see how i get on with that. But im still not sure as it depends what funds i have when it come to doing the converion lol.
