Today i went down the workshop and did some welding that ive been putting off for a few days.. There was a hole in the wishbone. I would have replaced it but even with a breaker bar it wasnt coming undone easily and i was more worried i could snap the bolt and ruin the subframe in some way.
Now both driveshafts are in, the hubs and Gaz shocks are on too. I ended up using the rover 400 brakes so theyre vented as standard and the calipers are larger than the Gti units. Win!! I made a little more adjustments for the gear selector, which now works perfectly. The selector comes though the bulkhead and mounts to the top of the Exhaust tunnel. With the selector out the way i aim to get the exhaust right in the tunnel so theres nothing to really hit whilst messing around on rough terrain etc.
Im currently (12:45am) sorting the ford edis wiring out as i type this. Soldering the loom and heatsrinking the joins. I want to start on the wiring of the ECU so that i can get it up and running in the next week. That means i can get to work on a base map and stop being worried that i wont have time to map it before germini.
My first job tomorrow will be mounting the EDIS triggerwheel and VR sensor to the crank. Ive got a rough idea how im going to do this.. but we'll take it as it comes...
On a lighter note, i nearly bought a 50hp nitrous kit.. but realised that shÃt is for whimps and straightline pimps..
Im beggining to wonder if 150hp is really going to be enough....
